Former congressman Patrick Kennedy recently lamented on CNN that there is no more civil discourse in politics. I believe that is because people cannot distinguish the man from the office. Look at the things that people say about both Barack Obama and Stephen Harper that are completely unacceptable. Both the left and the right are guilty of not understanding the basic concept "Respect the Office, if not the Man".

Before you trash your own country's leader with vitriol usually reserved for serial killers, you may want to remember that millions of people saw something in this person and voted for them. Just because YOU didn't see it doesn't make those millions of people wrong and once the election is over it's time to lick your wounds and rest up for the next.

I just un-friended someone for classless behaviour and think I'll be doing a lot more of that from now on. Time to raise the bar and disagree like civilized human beings.

Amen! It makes our country look weak with the extreme left and right wingers spouting their distaste for the other side.

I have posted the same kind of thing a few different times and called out a number of people for posting or reposting nonsensical rhetoric... I.e. crap.

Australia 2012 > 2013 is not a great deal different unfortunately.... we have our own down under "tea party" happening here & the mud is flying in all directions....We have shock jocks suggesting the PM should be dropped out at sea in a wheat bag !
